Mr Mariano Vila d'Abadal Secretary General of GMF Mr Mariano Vila d'abadal talk about the the municipalities of GMF, underlining their involvement in the nuclear sector as the concerned actors from the european nuclear territories. He said that the municipalities are not a missed part any more and remarked that its mayors showed, during the seminar, their whishes to keep with the nuclear installations since the benefits are really important for its territories: They are defending the current existence as well as the future of the nuclear power plants, always under the pillars of safety, transparency, radioactive waste management and sustainable development. He remarked the words of most of the speakers considering GMF as a valid and important concerned actor that should be taken into consideration as interlocutor for the European Institutions when decision making. It was very well received by the local authorities who were attending the Seminar. A part of that, he plesantly thanked the active participation of the speakers.
Mr Christian Waeterloos Director of Nuclear Safety Directorate of DG TREN, and Director of EURATOM supply agency. Mr Waeterloos compared the talks of the GMF members of the Seminar held in Brussels in 2000 with the talks done during that Seminar. Nowadays, GMF is saying that their experiences cohabiting with nuclear are good. They are playing an important rol in the nuclear sector becasue they are giving their opinion , which arrives at the Euroepan level. He underlined that European Commission is considering the GMF as an important interlocutor to strengh its relationship with the local authorities and, extensively, with the civilian, as a way to achieve a better governance for the nuclear issues.
